Coffee Beans for the Needy in Singapore by MHC Asia Group

We feel sad to hear about our fellow Singaporeans who had lost their money and jobs. About 6,500 Singaporeans (according to the Weekend Today 7 Feb 2009) are in arrears with their HDB installments. Some of our fellow Singaporeans have even avoided seeking medical attention when needed.

In times of crisis, it is even more important to maintain one’s health.

First and foremost, WE DO NOT SELL COFFEE! We are just a group of ordinary people from MHC who would like to help some of our fellow Singaporeans make it through this economic crisis.

Many people have lost their jobs & savings and are in dire need of help. As Singaporeans, we felt compelled to do something even though what we can do is meager compared to the size of the problem. 

"When boiled, an egg hardens and resists changes while a carrot softens and succumbs easily to external stress. But coffee beans emit an aroma which inspires and the caffeine acts as a stimulant which refreshes the depressed soul and the spirit"

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second ggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.

You have read how we got inspired to be like a simple Coffee Bean. We would also like to share some of the acronyms which we came up with for "Coffee Beans". To find an acronym for Coffee Beans seemed formidable at first. The double 'ee' and double 'ff" in the word -'Coffee" made the task looks impossible.

Nonetheless, we never give up. Very soon, we started to suggest many different versions.

We finally decided to adopt the following as the Acronymn for Coffee Bean:

Comfort Our Friends, Fill Each Emptiness. Be Encouraging And Nice
